Peaceful March Against the Urbanisation of Gozo

in

Part Of the CrowdOn Monday 25th of June several environmental pressure groups held a peaceful march through Republic Street against the development of the rural island of Gozo. Gozo's natural habitat is currently at risk with development proposals for Ħondoq ir-Rummien, Ta Ċenċ and Ramla l-Ħamra. 1,500 people attended the protest even though it was planned only in a week.

During the protest a police officer intimidated activists because of a placard which said ‘MEPA bla bajd’. Later a police officer sequestrated the placard.

Watch several photos of the march.

The press is idealised as being an open ground for free speech where criticism is beneficial when breeding a positive society. However criticism in our society has yet to be acccepted as a reality because several high rank state officials and significant political figures have yet still not come to terms with it.

Criticism can be categorized according to the medium used to communicate the criticial message at hand. This form of criticism can mostly be applied to political media. For instance when one looks at the criticism of the media of the Labour Party and the Nationalist Party generally consists of negative statements on each other.
